Guest Review | Camino, King’s Cross

This review comes to you from my sister Mary.

The first time I found myself at Camino, a Spanish bar in King’s Cross, was for my boyfriend’s work night out. As it was my introduction to his colleagues you can imagine how I had to exercise restraint when it came to sharing the tapas tidbits I had gingerly selected from the vast range of options. Coming from a family of 6 where ‘etiquette’ went as far as ‘eat it before someone else gets there first,’ holding back was an unfamiliar experience, so I was delighted when my brother was offered a table just for two.
If your mouth is in the mood for a party then Camino is certainly worth investigating. The dishes are traditional and varied, taking you on a culinary journey through the different regions of Spain, as the name suggests. The diner’s voyage, however, should be a small undertaking, as the restaurant is bang next to the station at the bottom of an office complex in Regent Quarter. Don’t let this put you off though as the atmosphere inside is warm and contemporary with brick walls, candlelit tables and an open kitchen. Continue reading

The Secret Larder

Inspired by the brilliance of the Hart and Fuggle pop-up restaurant this month, I felt the time had come to open my own supper club in North London. So, from 25th March, every other Thursday my sister and I will turn our sitting room into a dining room.

THE RESTAURANT: We have a total of 20 places each night. Parties from 2 – 8 people are welcome. The Secret Larder is also available for private parties, which can be held on any night you fancy.

WHAT YOU’LL GET: An intimate evening of lovingly prepared food, coming in the shape of a three course set menu*, with coffee and chocolates afterwards.

WHAT IT WILL COST YOU: A donation of £30 per head (cash only). We don’t serve wine, so feel free to bring your own. There’s no corkage, but I’m sure the cook wouldn’t complain if you offered him a glass.

WHAT TIME: 7.30pm

BOOKING: Tel. 0207 697 0366 Email. thelarderlout@hotmail.com.

We’ll let you know how to get here once you’ve booked.

*please mention any dietary requirements when booking and we will move heaven and earth to make sure you don’t feel like an afterthought.
